Located northeast of central Phoenix, the Arcadia neighborhood is about as picturesque as it gets. It’s popular for many reasons but its main draw? Location, location, location!
Although no freeways run through this sought-after Phoenix neighborhood, it’s still just 15-minutes from nearly everything – Downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sky Harbor Airport, Camelback Mountain, and more.
Residents in Arcadia enjoy some of the most scenic views in all of Phoenix, quaint, well-kept streets, and a safe, quiet neighborhood without being isolated from the excitement of the city. There are no sacrifices here because you can literally enjoy it all!
A thriving orange and citrus grove until the late 1950’s, this neighborhood was one of the last suburban areas to replace the regions historic crops. Most of the lots are large, well-irrigated, and lush, and many provide a sneak-peek at the grove that once was. Mature orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees are a common site in both front and backyards giving the neighborhood a classic Arizona feel.
Many of the current homes are remodels of the original 1950’s ranch and adobe-style homes while other lots showcase newer, bigger estates and mansions. Even the smallest homes here are very upper-middle class so it’s definitely a prestigious neighborhood with desirable addresses, but you don’t necessarily have to be rich to live here. It’s the perfect arrangement for those looking for class, exclusivity, and affordable practicality.
There’s no doubt that this neighborhood is family-friendly. Front-yard lemonade stands (with homegrown lemons!) are a charming site every spring and summer and the neighborhood also boasts one of the regions favorite cycling corridors. In fact, cyclists and families alike love this neighborhood for the quaint local scenery, pleasing mountain views, and safe suburban trails and roads. The local schools are some of the city’s most sought-after and highest ranking. Parents don’t have to look for alternative schools here because the public schools are excellent; yet another reason why this neighborhood is practical yet sophisticated.
For the outdoor and recreational enthusiast, Arcadia offers breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain and an easy drive to the Echo Canyon Recreation Area. Hikers everywhere flock to this area. It’s not uncommon to find young professionals taking their weekday lunch breaks on one of the nearby hiking trails or paths. Plus, the Phoenix Swim Club, located in the Phoenix Country Day School, is situated right in the middle of this active little community.
Several local café’s, bistros and restaurants feature locally-grown ingredients, making it easy to eat healthy while shopping local. And there are a number of nearby, upscale shopping markets to satisfy all of your shopping needs!
